Altered Eclectics September Challenge

For this month's Altered Eclectics item I altered an Altoid Tin and a bottle cap with fairies!  The images are from the Graphic 45 Once Upon a Springtime paper pack.  I used the Martha Stewart picket fence border punch and the grass border punch to help create the scene for the inside of the tin.  I embellished the top of the tin with fabric washi tape and a ladybug button.  Also, used a 1 inch circle punch for a fairy and added it to the bottle cap and then covered it with a clear raised adhesive circle dot.  I placed the tin onto a small easel for display.

We hope you will share your altered item(s) with us at Altered Eclectics September Challenge.  Anything Goes as long as it's been altered, mixed media, but please, no cards or scrapbook layouts.

Crafting When We Can Challenge - Borrow a Sketch!

The challenge at Crafting When We Can is to create a card using a "borrowed" sketch.  For my card I borrowed my sketch #111 I created for the SWAT Challenge; I only borrowed the sketch and not the tree twist!  Here's the sketch:

For my card, I used the Queen's Coronation digi image from the challenge sponsor Sassy Studio Designs.  I used lots of bling and lace.  The patterned paper is from a DCWV Trade Winds paper stack.  I colored the image using Copic Markers.  The sentiment is an American Art stamp.

We hope you'll borrow a sketch and play along!  You can find the challenge HERE.

For my card, I used the MFP Branch of Blossoms stamp set.  The designer paper is from the DCWV Far East paper pack, the doily is Paper Studio.  I colored the branch image using Copic marker and the sentiment was stamped using Cherry Cobbler ink.

MFP Simple Salutations Challenge 112 - What's Your Favorite Subject in School

This week's Simple Salutations Challenge at Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co., is to create a card that depicts your favorite subject in school!

I used the Lesson Learned stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers.  I can't really say that math (AKA Arithmetic back in the day!) was my favorite subject, but ironically, I worked with numbers as a grant administrator for 11 school districts!  Thankfully, I'm retired now and the only numbers I work with are fun....figuring out homemade card measurements (and, balancing my checkbook!)

I also instructed  adult ed classes for a community college for a few years and enjoyed the interaction with students eager to learn; my math skills were used to calculate their GPA at the end of the quarter!

We hope you'll share with us what your favorite subject was or is by entering your card in the Simple Salutations Challenge.  If you do, you'll be entered to win a free stamp set.

MFP Sketch With a Twist Challenge 113 - Faux or Real Stitching!

This week's SWAT Challenge is to use the following sketch and the TWIST is to use faux or real stitching on your card.  (I cannot do a single real stitch and my faux stitching looks a lot like what my real stitching would look!)

For my card, I flipped the sketch.  I used a Spellbinder Piercablilities die on the bottom to create a decorative edge.  I used Kraft Cardstock.  I stamped the image panel using the stamp and sentiment from the MFP Medallion stamp set using Crumb Cake ink.  I then stamped the image im black from Nature's Brushstrokes over the Medallion.  I used a ruler to add dots using a black pen down the side and corners of the stamped panel, then I used the pen to connect the dots with the hope of making it look like stitching (looked much better before I connected the dots!)  The buttons are from my stash.

We hope you'll play along with our SWAT Challenge #113 this week.  If you do, you'll be entered to win a stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers!

A Brentwood Owl (c) Digital Image Freebie!

I am so excited to join the JessicaLynnOriginal Design Team!  My term begins September 1 but I wanted to use the freebie Brentwood Owl (c) image provided on the JessicaLynnOriginal website to create a birthday card!  One of the fun things about this image is you get it free and can then design Brentwood's T-shirt to fit whatever occasion you have in mind!

You can find the free image HERE.

For my card, I included the letters HB on Brentwood's T-shirt and then printed the image onto Spectrum Noir Ultra White cardstock.  The designer paper is from my stash; the cardstock is Stampin Up.  I found a "limb" for Brentwood to sit on (it's cut from a PaperSmooches die) and added some foliage using a Martha Stewart branch punch.  I colored the image using Copic markers.

Once you create your project using the free image, remember to include it HERE using the blue frog Inlinkz button to be entered into a free drawing as described on the JessicaLynnOriginal website!

Can't wait to see how you use your Brentwood Owl (c) free image!

MFP Simple Salutations Challenge - Bear or Bears

The MFP Simple Salutations Challenge is to create a card and include a bear or bears.  I chose to use a sentiment from the MFP Bundle of Joy stamp set and create a punch art bear holding the sentiment!  I used various sized circle punches and an oval punch to create the bear.  I drew the line and lips; a white gel pen was used to create eyes and lashes were drawn using a small mm black pen.

We hope you'll play along with our challenge this week; if you do, you'll be entered to win a stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co.

Ruby's Rainbow Challenge #86 - Back to School

It is back to school at Ruby's Rainbow Challenge Blog.

For my card, I used image and sentiment from the Mark's Finest Papers Lesson Learned stamp set.  I stamped the apple onto watercolor paper and smooshed some ink onto an acrylic block and picked it up with a waterbrush to color the apple.  I used Stampin' Up Circle framelits to create the round card.  I used a 3D Jolee's pencil sticker as an embellishment along with green ribbon and a red gem.

We hope you'll play along with our Back to School challenge.

Dear Santa and Brrrr

I think this is my favorite project this month!  I seldom create tags but as soon as I saw the Brrr stamp set I new what I wanted to create!  I stamped and colored the images and then fussy cut them out; I also paper pieced the hats on the two end snowmen!  I used word bubble dies for the sentiments.  The blue bow was from a package of bows I found in the Michaels dollar bin!

Here's another "favorite" and fun project!  I used the Dear Santa stamp set to create a count down calendar!  The image is in a 5x7 acrylic frame.  The numbers were stamped using the MFP Calendar stamp set and then used a circle punch to punch them out.  An adhesive magnet was added to hold the numbers to the frame so they could be changed out easily.  A bulldog clip holds the banners in place with the magnet and numbers adhered.
