Ruby's Rainbow Challenge - Twine, Buttons, and Embossing

The challenge at Ruby's Rainbow is to create a project that includes twine, button, and embossing.  For my card I used a Heartfelt Creations Raindrops on Roses card kit.  I used a Sizzix embossing folder to emboss the patterned paper and diecut image oval.  A button from my stash and some American Crafts twine looped behind the button and through the button holes to embellish the card front.  The stamped oval was layered over an intricate die cut from the Raindrops and Roses kit.

We hope you'll play along and share your twine, button, and embossed creations with us.  You can find the challenge HERE.

MFP Simple Salutations Challenge #95 - Use a Tag or Two

This week's Simple Salutations Challenge at Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co., is to use a tag on your card.

For my card, I used the Fairies stamp set for the images and sentiment.  I used the SU scallop tag punch and printed watercolor paper to create my tag.  I stamped the images with Memento Black ink and colored with Copic Markers.  I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of the watercolor paper and die cut using a banner die.  The doily, cardstock, and designer paper are from my stash.

We hope you'll play along with this week's challenge.  If you do, you'll be entered to win a stamp from Mark's Finest Papers.

Cuttin' and Stampin' Challenge - No Flowers for Mother's Day!

April 29, 2014 - Create a Mother's Day Card But Use No Flowers!

I created a triple heart easel card for the challenge.  The Design Team was provided papers and embellishments from the Bo Bunny Modern Miss paper line and the Paper Smooches Script Sayings stamp set.  You can find these items and so much more at the Cuttin' and Stampin' FB store!

Here is a side view of my easel card:

I had to use the Viewmaster embellishment from the kit and place it on the small heart!  I remember spending hours viewing lots of 3D pictures using the Viewmaster and the picture disk while growing up!

We hope you'll share a Mother's Day card with us at the Cuttin' and Stampin' Challenge Blog this week...BUT, remember...no flowers on your creation!

Twisted Tuesday Challenge - Black & White and One Other Color!

The Twisted Tuesday Challenge is to create a black and white card and the twist is to use only one other color!

I like creating the scalloped circle cards using spellbinders dies.  My favorite color is pink, so I went with a gorgeous flower called Huge Blooms from Mark's Finest Papers.  I heat embossed the image using black detail embossing powder on Ranger watercolor cardstock then used a waterbrush and Stampin' Up Pixie Pink ink to color the image.

We hope you'll play along with our challenge!  You can find the Twisted Tuesday Challenges HERE.

MFP Sketch With a Twist Challenge #96

It is Tuesday and time for this week's SWAT Challenge #96!  As hostess for the Mark's Finest Papers Sketch With a Twist Challenge (also known as SWAT Challenge) I get to have fun by creating a sketch and also include a TWIST with that sketch each week!

Here is this week's sketch and twist:

For my card I used the Glad Glads stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers.  I stamped the glads onto designer paper and colored the image using Copic markers.  The butterfly and sentiment are both part of the Glad Glads stamp set.

We hope you'll play along with us this week and create a flower themed card.  If you do play along with the SWAT Challenge you'll be entered to win a stamp from Mark's Finest Papers.

April 22- Flowers With Watercolors
April 23-Stand By Your Man Explosion Card
April 24-Holidays Candy Holder

Today's Tutorial is by Sue. You can find it here.
You can find the square Explosion Card Tutorial here.

I created three explosion cards for today's hop!
The first one is a simplified square explosion card with no outer layering; I used only the "explosion" as the card base.

For this Oldies But Goodies masculine explosion card, I used the 2012 set called Be Wild and Free!  The designer paper is from DCWV Safari 6x4 paper stack.  I used a map from the paper stack for the front of my card and stamped the solid stamps from the set over the map.  For the inside images, I stamped on white cardstock and cut the squares in half on the diagonal to add to the folds of the explosion card.

The second square explosion card follows Sue's square explosion card tutorial using the bottom and top layers to "sandwich" the explosion between.  I again used the Be Wild and Free stamp set.

My third explosion card uses the A2 sized card base and explosion fold found in Sue's first tutorial link.

For explosion card #3 I used the 2012 Island Life stamp set.

MFP Simple Salutations Challenge #94 - Lace, Ribbon, or Twine

This week's Simple Salutations Challenge at Mark's Finest Papers, a Heinrich Co., is to use lace, ribbon, or twine on your card.

For my card I created a chalkboard background using the Butterfly Essence stamp and the sentiment is from the Hello Butterflies stamp set.  I wrapped twine around the side of the stamped image and then created a double twine bow and placed a button on top of it.  The chalkboard effect was created using versamark ink and Pan Pastels.

We hope you'll play along and enter your card using Lace, Ribbon, or Twine!  If you do, you'll be entered to win a stamp from Mark's Finest Papers.

You can find the challenge HERE.

MFP Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop Day 1

Welcome to our Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop! We'll be featuring many of our older but still fabulous stamp sets during the hop!

For my Oldies But Goodies stamp set, I used the 2012 set called Love Remains.  I used spellbinder's scallop and circle dies to create the shaped card.  The Rose image was stamped onto Distress Watercolor Cardstock using versamark ink; black detail embossing powder was heat set.  I colored the image using a water brush and stampin' up re-inkers.
